they aren’t saying you don’t have money, they are saying that there are better decisions that could be made with your money. You currently use section 8 housing and only pay for a small portion of your rent. Not very long ago you required further assistance and have posted in the past few years about how panicked you were about money. There’s no shame in needing the help, no one should go homeless especially with children, but if you want to become economically independent and not have to rely on government funding, this isn’t a wise way to be spending your money.

It’s your money, you can spend it how you want, but you’re not going to be able to work your way out to economical independence if you keep spending thousands on vacations, concerts, casinos, etc. it’s your choice, but a financial planning class would greatly benefit you. I don’t care what you do in that aspect, but the only frustration I get out of it is people see things like this and it turns them against supporting public assistance programs for those who really need it.
The money I spend on vacations, concerts etc. isnt govt money
..that is money I saved from other means that I did not spend.Thats car accident settlement money,my mom's estate money, income tax money etc. That I have not touched so I just let it sit and collect interest. Thats not my INCOME.Its an asset tes but I cant pay rent with that money it wouldn't last.

My money is pretty much gone anyway because i have to use it for liposuction. My lymphedema is so so much worse now and the only way to normalize my legs is liposuction and its considered cosmetic I have to pay out of pocket for it.

Im not using my kids savings or our emergency fund to fund the surgery I've been ubering extra hours i want to have the money for it by next winter.
What are HUD asset limits?
Currently, $100,000. Previously, no asset limit.

Income from assets applies to your income limit but assets don’t. Someone can need housing assistance even if they have a 401k, vehicle, or pension, for example.

If your income meets requirements, you can get it. If not, you’re lucky. Why would you want someone to wipe out their life savings before being eligible for housing assistance or their retirement accounts before being eligible for housing assistance?

I have zero income with assets that allow me to qualify. According to you, I don't have to "wipe out" my "life savings" to do so.

If your income meets the income requirements (generally 80% of medium) than you qualify. If you are married income requirements are based on household income. It’s not rocket science.

You want to know the reality? No one with assets should qualify for housing assistance unless and until they have expended their assets to cover those expenses. That's rocket science.

You just clued people in on how to jump the system.

Do you understand what housing assistance is? You are required to pay 30% of your income towards rent and housing assistance makes up the rest (within limits). You seem to feel that people should be rendered penniless before they receive this assistance? Why?

Honestly, I think most people understand how housing assistance works so I would bet I only clued you in.

You did nothing but reveal another way to loophole the system. I think I will work towards changing it. This KKKrazy person or anyone else should not be allowed to have these kinds of assets and still qualify for assistance. Now I understand that whole welfare queen topic.
