Probably because none of them have been charged with anything yet.
This article about a different murder that happened a few days ago in Kansas City, it looks like the Prosecutor’s office (not the police) are the ones who announce names once people are charged: https://amp.kansascity.com/news/local/a ... 25272.html. A previous article on the same crime listed two people as detained, but no others details on them (including their names, just like in this case): https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/c ... 74847.html
People are detained by the police but not charged all the time, so it makes sense to not associate people’s names with crimes unless and until there’s enough evidence to charge them.

Who cares about the names of the suspects. I honestly wish they would just refer to them as a generic reference. Give the press to the victims, some of these shooters are hoping to be infamous and releasing their names just gives them this.

I agree with that in general. In this particular case it seems those detained may be juveniles, so they will likely not release the names. Just another dispute turned deadly because of unfettered access to guns - MO has some of the most lax laws in the country.highlandmum wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 11:04 amWho cares about the names of the suspects. In August, Missouri Gov. Mike Parson chastised the mayors of Kansas City and St. Louis for proposing two new gun safety laws.
Missouri is near the top in homicide rates across the U.S. As the gun safety organization Giffords noted in a social media post Wednesday: “Missouri has everything the gun lobby wants: No universal background checks / No Licensing or training requirement / No extreme risk protection orders / No large capacity magazine ban / No CVI funding / It also has the fourth highest gun death rate in the nation.
