Partnering with distributors, they will purchase $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy, and meat and then deliver those boxes to Americans who are struggling.

“Through this effort, we are providing $19 billion to support our nation’s agricultural producers, maintain the health of our critical food supply chains and provide food assistance to American families," the president said. “No other president has done this.”

I wonder something else too, but I'll wait for someone else to point it out.

the irony of putting trump’s face on commie food boxes and handing them out to his cheering supporters would be pretty great 🙃

I am impressed. This is the kind of beneficial socialism move that makes a country strong.

There can be harmful aspects as well, but this is not one of them.

If I believed this was a compassionate move, I would agree. But, imo, this is a two fold move to benefit the president.

1) It's more campaigning at taxpayer expense.

And,

2) It's another giveaway to the agricultural industry which is mostly a part of his base.

"More recently, in the wake of an international retaliation to what are casually known as the Trump tariffs, the CCC was heavily invoked again. That is, In July 2018, Trump's administration announced that it would use the CCC, to pay farmers up to $12 billion. This aid was increased to $28 billion in May 2019.[1] The CCC attempts to offset losses in the American agricultural sector resulting from retaliatory tariffs from the European Union, China, and other states.[2] It was estimated by the USDA that in 2019 these and other aid payments constituted one third of total American farm income.[3] "

This has been a common thing with presidents and it bugs me.

When people don’t have food, the government should provide it and they are doing that.

I don’t see this as any different than what any other president would do as well.
