What do i tell him?

My YDS has been asking about his dad. He's saying he misses daddy and that he wants to go see him. I usually just say that dad is sick and trying to get better but thats just not cutting it anymore.
Idk what to tell him.

He's 6. I guess he's noticing that he doesn't have a dad and other kids do.

I think the sick and needs to get better explanations is a good one.
I don’t think there is anything else to say that would be age appropriate
