It's not too old, but there are health risks. I had GD when I was pregnant with Monkey, but other than that there were no problems, and he's perfectly fine today.
You can have GD without being older. Cousin was only 25 when she had her 1st and had GD.

Yeah, I know. I was just saying that was the only thing that was different from my first pregnancy.

No, that is not true. The risk does increase if you are older but it's not a definite. Ignore her.

I had my son at age 35.

He has two friends that were born when their moms were 42.

All kids are perfectly healthy.

Your mom is incorrect.

My aunt stopped having babies when she was 50. They're all neurotypical.

My mom had my youngest brother at 39. Your mom is either misinformed or wants to freak you out.

I'm 37, my youngest is 2 months old. Your mom doesn't know what she's talking about.

You're mother is being a ridiculous scaremonger. Check this out:

https://www.babymed.com/tools/down-synd ... tor?age=37

Enter your age and see what comes up. For 37, at delivery, you have a 1 in 225 risk of having a child ith Down syndrome. Now turn the figures around. That also means you have 224 chances out of 225 of NOT having a child with Down Syndrome.

the odds of having a child with issues like Down's are higher the older you get but not by much. Many women I went to school with started having children at 38 and their children are fine. I personally can't imagine having a newborn at 37 but I started at 24 and was still exhausted at 37 lol.
