Texas college student leaders want Chick-fil-A thrown off campus — and their vote is unanimous

The senate of Trinity University's Student Government Association unanimously passed a resolution recommending the removal of Chick-fil-A from the San Antonio campus, the Trinitonian reported.

I’m not into all this “I’m intolerant of intolerance” attitudes. As long as Chick-fil-A is following anti-discrimination laws, they have a right to their moral views. Trying to bring them down because of it isn’t much different than those who do discriminate. They’re showing t given a bit of an upper hand, they can be as hateful as the homophobes they hate so much.
Tolerance includes acknowledging the right of others to have different views and moral opinions than you. It basically means accepting that people have a right to think and do what you believe is wrong. Same thing gay-activists expect from those who believe homosexuality is wrong. Just the right to do it. So extend the same courtesy.

"The Trinity student government's resolution in and of itself doesn't affect Chick-fil-A's on-campus presence, but it can be sent to administrators for their consideration."

If the mere sight of a Chic Fil A makes you uncomfortable on campus you will never survive in the real world.

I won't go to Chick-fil-A as they donate money to groups I don't support. It's an easy decision for as I don't eat fast food. I don't boycott Chick-fil-A as a way to "take them down" but rather I don't want my money to go to the Chick-fil-A Foundation. Chick-fil-A has a right to their views and I have a right to choose not to be a patron. I feel that colleges also have that right.

But it’s not the college, it’s the student leaders. As you said, if they don’t want to eat there, then they don’t have to. Trying to kick them out, though, that’s uncalled for. And that’s intolerance.

And if you can’t ignore its presence because you disagree with their views and just walk away to another restaurant, then that’s not an example of tolerance. Not wanting to give them your money, fine. Wanting to screw them over? Disgusting. And it’s funny that that attitude comes from those who praise themselves as oh-so-tolerant.
