Only if the snake gets them first. Growing up on the farm, our dogs, found huge snakes even copperheads or cotton mouths, often long before we saw them and alert us. And our snakes were a little smaller, but on several occasions I was covered in snake blood from the snake because the dog attacked and killed it prior to us knowing what was going on.
But even so, I would be horribly sad if the dog died, but far better than granny!
