32, 34, and 38, when I delivered my 3, so different place in life than I was in my 20’s.Anonymous 3 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 1:44 pmWhat’s an “old mama?”LiveWhatULove wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 1:36 pm I’m an old mama. We had established careers and were living the middle class dream (of working our asses off) when kids came along, so no assistance needed.
But I am glad it is there, I get sick to think of babies or actually anyone experiencing food insecurity. It’s one of the essentials in Maslow’s heiarchy of needs.

We qualified for free lunch when I was a kid in Jr and High school. And I qualified for Pell Grants for college.

As an adult, no. When I was a child, my mom was on every program under the sun for quite some time.

It is income based, it is welfare. Sure the income level is different, but it's welfare all the same.carterscutie85 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 1:12 pmI don't really consider WIC the same as food stamps and all that. Our income is considered middle class and we'd qualify for WIC, but we don't qualify for food stamps. We make about 25 grand too much for FS yet would get WIC if we wanted it.

I took advantage of the daycare subsidy when I was a minimum wage worker. I couldn't have kept my job if I didn't.

No. I think the closest thing would be my gov't student loans, which were paid back 100%.

Mature and established prior to children would be the context.Anonymous 3 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 1:44 pmWhat’s an “old mama?”LiveWhatULove wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 1:36 pm I’m an old mama. WIC, food stamps, and if you are one of those who believe eitc is welfare, that, as well.
Of course EITC is welfare.
