FFS! Take the dog to the F***ing vet already! Jesus christ! If your kid has a huge growth on their body are you gonna take the advice of the morons here instead of seeking medical attention?! Neither you or your boyfriend should be pet owners.

That's not my definition of bad and plenty people would agree with me. We were gone less than 24 hours.QuantumNursing wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:40 amYou dont treat her bad? Then how do you explain insisting the dog was locked in the garage just so you could go away for the weekend....Very definition of treating a dog badRealisticBeauty wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:38 amI'm not a dog person period! get over that! This is not your decision and his dog is not just something to get rid of . Its a companion, friend and a family member. JFC have some compassion. Are you sure he is the one with Aspie? Your lack of empathy for your partner is atrocious
This is what you askedRealisticBeauty wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:42 amThat's why I'm asking about recovery centers because I'm not doing it and he won't be able to handle it.MistressMonster wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:40 amThe post at home care would be done by him or youRealisticBeauty wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:35 am Of course he will be upset and I will be here to comfort him. I've been posting about my SO being a hoarder for years. He also has major anxiety among other mental issues. He literally will have a panic attack when he has to get rid of things or start a new routine so I know he will try to hold on to the dog until the very last min.
If the dog gets surgery she will need aftercare so that's why i asked about the recovery home, I dont expect her to stay there forever.
"what are the chances of them putting her down versus surgery"?
You did not ask about aftercare.
Good God!!

Not anyone who gave a damn about their dogs. More than likely its fatty lipoma that os very common in older dogs....Which means they probably wont bother due to the dogs age...Hopefully your SO will never gey another dog. At least while he is still with youRealisticBeauty wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:43 amThat's not my definition of bad and plenty people would agree with me. Well that's one of the things about owning pets. You sometimes need to deal with medical care.RealisticBeauty wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:42 amThat's why I'm asking about recovery centers because I'm not doing it and he won't be able to handle it.MistressMonster wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:40 amThe post at home care would be done by him or youRealisticBeauty wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:35 am Of course he will be upset and I will be here to comfort him. One of my cats is on an immune booster every other week. Just part of our life. I don't begrudge her for it.

And the lemons are like the paleness of a lover
Who has spent the night crying.

She needs whatever it is removed because obviously its bothering her. I think it's more cruel to watch her pick at it all day long.QuantumNursing wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:48 amNot anyone who gave a damn about their dogs. And he knows better not to bring home another dog after she goes.

If they did surgery, you would be responsible for after care. There's not a recovery home for pets. That's your job as owner.
Before you jump to any conclusions - let's see what the vet says, yes?

I get that but I can't do it. I never had a dog because I can't handle them. My SO will expect me to deal with her care and I'm not going to. That is the reason why I said its probably best for her to be put down or we need to find a recovery home.MistressMonster wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:50 amWell that's one of the things about owning pets. You are hollow. People don't try to save their dog because they can't get rid of "things"...she's not a worn out bedspread. People LOVE their dogs. You know, how you're supposed to love your children.RealisticBeauty wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:35 amOf course he will be upset and I will be here to comfort him. He has had this dog for 14 years, and will most likely be upset either way. The dog may be in pain, and need to be put down - that may be heartbreaking for him. Or the dog may need a simple treatment and come home, and need time with him fussing over his recovering dog.RealisticBeauty wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:21 am
She's a rottweiler and I think it's time to let her go. I just need to get my SO on board with it. He hates getting rid of things even if they are falling apart.
I would not assume the dog will disappear into a "recovery" home, or just no longer be a part of his life.
