I have 5, but two are adults. The 3 that are making me crazy are 14, 12 and 10 the two youngest go to bed at 830.

Yup they have to be up at 6 that’s only 8.5 hours if they fall asleep as soon as they hit their beds...
my 14 year old generally goes to bed at 9 u less he has something late after school or a lot of homework because he has to be up by 5 to get to school by 7
And that’s not enough sleep for him. He’s usually exhausted by the end of the week n

Yesterday, I had about half an hour after we got home from being at the park most of the day before I had to leave to meet up with some friends. I went to relax in my room. Not five minutes later my oldest comes in to tell me she wants to buy a Nintendo Switch after she gets her next paycheck. Then she starts talking about a bunch of nonsense. I told her she was welcome to hang out in the room with me...but she had to be quiet. It has been an insane week. She opened a book and read next to me until I had to leave. If I hadn't had that little bit of quiet time I may have lost it.

And?? My almost eight year olds go to bed at 7:30. They are up 5:30 every morning and we start school work after their dad leaves for work at 6:00. So usually about 6:30-9, then they have online work while my oldest has online classes. Not everyone lives your schedule. If we didn't start early I just wouldn't have time for everything on my plate. They are happy with our schedule so I fail to see what the issue is with going to bed early.

Mine were a bit crazy today too. I was cooking dinner while they were watching TV with dad. I walked in and it was like chaos all four were having a massive pillow fight and hubby was protecting himself from being beaten with couch pillows. I started to say what is going on in here and they turned on me.. I quickly said carry on just get dad and left lol. He can deal with the chaos for a bit lol. I'm sure he had something to do with it starting in the first place. Thankfully they have been sleeping soundly for a couple hours. The quiet was nice lol.

So why did you question it?

Probably because that sounds very early for kids that old. I thought it sounded early also when I saw it, but didn't comment. It makes sense though with how early they need to be up.

Sometimes you just have to lock yourself away in a room and order Chinese for dinner.
That's what I did yesterday and my house is messy but it was worth it.

This was my thought as well. Of course, because my dh has always worked odd hours, we've never kept a 'traditional' schedule. Still, that seems early to me, for kids that age.
