My SO and I are on the same page. There has never been a reason for us to drive each other's cars. I'm not sure why you consider that strange.
What do you do when either of your cars are in the shop? Walk?

What an odd question. Insurance covers a rental car.

How would that cover friends and family driving your car?
Your insurance really doesn’t cover someone borrowing your car? That’s kind of odd.
I live in New England have State Farm Insurance and they only cover me. When married it covered myself and my husband only. Anyone else to be covered needs to be listed as a driver for that vehicle.
It must be regional thing. That’s not how car insurance works here at all. In 30 years, I’ve never had a policy that didn’t cover other drivers, other than my commercial policy.

Seems like a hassle to me but like I said before, whatever.

Lol Oh, he also drives my car when it needs an oil change or mechanical work. I don’t have to take it in. He likes to. :)

How is having a rental car more of a hassle than having to share a car?

For me it would be but you do you. I've never in my life heard of anyone not allowing their spouse to drive their car for such a ridiculous reason. It must suck not to be able to trust the person you live with.

You choose it. My insurance will cover any licensed driver over 18 or 21.
