There’s no question when meat is spoiled. It’s smell is very obvious.

Perhaps you should pay attention to food handling rules and never set out meat to defrost. Let it defrost slowly INSIDE the fridge or put it in the microwave on defrost to defrost.

So far we are fine. There really was not a bad smell at all. Just smelled like meat. Thank you.

You're probably fine. Doesn't sound like spoiled meat if it looked and smelled fine.

I live life dangerously, lol.

I thaw meat at room temp.
I use oxidized ground meat with no reservations.
I eat dough with raw eggs.
I throw frozen meat in crock pot.
I use dried beans in crockpots.
I use sous vide meat at low temps.
I eat rare to medium rare steaks.
Sometimes I still rinse off my chicken, lol.

We must be one hardy family, I guess, lol, *knock on wood* we have not gotten ill from food borne illness yet!

I hope you guys are OK!

Brown is fine. I volunteer at a food bank and learned that. Before knowing, I would had tossed it.

I do all of these things too! Growing up we had all that and worse. Buying yogurt or cheese with mold on it because it was marked down to almost nothing, and trimming all that off, eating stuff that was soooo far expired.... I'm convinced everything I ate as a kid helped me develop an iron-clad stomach and I guess in a lot of ways I'm providing the same for my own kids. Just another one of those things they probably don't appreciate 😅
