I don't live in Michigan but belong to a similar group in my county in Virginia and have since 2019. There are private non-profit groups though out Virginia that support refugees and I assume there are ones in other states. We currently have over 80 asylum seekers that we support in my county and well over 100 volunteers.

My family in Michigan have been involved in helping refugees for decades through the Episcopal Migration Ministries. They were even represented in the movie "A Good Lie".

Anyone who is practicing Catholic has probably either donated time or money to Catholic Relief Services which is the largest refugee relief program.

Never heard of it until today…maybe, I’d have to recruit other people to do it with me which probably wouldn’t be hard to do at church. Or I could ask a Hispanic or Haitian church in my area if they already do something like this.

It's a great opportunity for a church!

I don't live in Michigan so, no. I am active in our local Pride, planned parenthood, and ywca groups which already work together with other organizations on similar efforts though.

I am part of the ESOL department this school year and about 85% of my ELL students have came to the country within the last 3 years. I work closely with the parent outreach program as well.

Outside of work, I have volunteered either time or resources to local organizations.

My parents donated to CRS. 🤗 I'm no longer practicing.
