Jeff VanderMeer
He wrote the Southern Reach Trilogy.
I’m curious because a friend told me he’s famous. Is he really?
He used to be my neighbor. At the time, I didn’t know he was a writer. He’s a nice guy.
Have you heard of this author?

I have not.
But a quick Google search reveals his works. He even has a Wikipedia entry.

No, I have not read his works.
Typically, majority of authors are typical people, not born into their fame. They are often humbled by writing multiple works that are never even picked up by publishers, so when they finally gain popularity, they are grateful.

I wasn't sure if I'd heard of him or not, (the last name is familiar, last name pretty generic), so I googled him. I don't think I've heard of him, but I see he's won several awards.
