Thoughts and prayers are meaningless, won’t help and make the person who used the expression look lazy.
If you really care, you do something to help. Saying “ thoughts and prayers” is way too easy. And overused.
There’s a truckload of them.
Perfect way to make a point about it.

Families very much appreciate people thinking of them and many for praying for them.

Workplace violence definitely needs to be addressed by every Human Resources department at every company. There are indicators that someone exhibits. Just like we train for inclusion and diversity and harassment we need to also train people to identify the markers that someone is 'on the edge'.

Making light of people sending prayers is not helpful. And it is beneath you.

My personal opinion is mine. I don’t intend to insult anyone or “ make light” of people . I just don’t think prayers help- I think the way to help people is to actually do something.
That’s the way millions of realistic people think. Realistic.

It always has been.

But to millions upon millions of people - what they can do and what helps ease their minds and comfort them in times of turmoil in their life - is prayers or positive thoughts. To which you are minimizing.

For a person in, say Minneapolis, what would you have them do for 'action' that would provide comfort to the victims and their families?
