You need to follow up with your PCP. That’s the person who should be doing a non-emergent work up, not the ER.
Then that practice is your primary care. You need to call them.Anonymous 1 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 10:03 amI don't really have a pcp. I go to a clinic and get assigned a different doctor everytime and because i was in good health i rarely went.Last visit was a physical last year.

what would you do for an acute problem that popped up when your dr is closed? Lay there in excruciating pain unable to move waiting for a call back, or go to the ER?
She said she went yesterday. I assume her doc was open at some point yesterday. Mine would have seen me, so that's what I would have done. I don't understand the purpose of trying to make this an argument. Are you trying to make this an argument? Because that's what it seems like.
If my doctor were closed I'd probably try to find a different office of a specialist that was open if I had any idea what the problem was or go to urgent care if I couldn't wait over the ER because in my experience they take more time with patients.
And yes, you seem argumentative. If you're not, I'm getting the wrong impression, sorry. It's just very strange to me to be picking apart something like this.
You still need to file a complaint, and call your clinic...also call social services, and see if there's any help they can offer in form of respite, or at home helpAnonymous 1 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 10:07 am I need an mri .I told the doctor at the er i needed one and he said no .Im terrified.Im a single mom with no help.My kids need me.I can't even cook for them.
no i was actually just wondering what people do when their dr is closed, like on a weekend, or weekend night/sunday, and a serious issue comes up....and many insurances require a referral to a specialist, so not everyone can just 'make an appt' if there's one in town to see.Smarties wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 10:07 amAnonymous 2 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 10:04 amAsking you a direct question is now arguing??? Yes. I’m not saying she shouldn’t have gone in, I’m saying that she shouldn’t expect an MRI in the ER, not shouod she go back for a work up unless something acutely changes. They aren’t there to work you up until they have a diagnosis, they are there to work you up until they are confidant that it isn’t an emergency. That was done, and the fact that she didn’t go home and die is evidence that they were correct. It was not an immediately life-threatening condition, so the treatment she provided was appropriate, even if it wasn’t what she wanted.Anonymous 2 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 10:07 amWhen someone suddenly cannot walk all of a sudden for no reason, THAT is an emergencySolidlyAverage wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 10:05 am ERs are not there to diagnose all conditions, they are there to rule out emergencies. They are specialists. They specialize in emergency conditions. You wouldn’t expect your cardiologist to manage your diabetes, or your psychiatrist to treat your UTI, right?

There are many many possibilities depending on what is available in your area. Some family practice offices have weekend hours for illness. Urgent cares, other types of facilities... we have 24 hour clinics for children here if it's a child that needs to be seen. Not really possible to cover every potential scenario that OP may be able to take in a few sentences of a reply.
