Im experiencing absolutely excruciating lower back pain.It started on Tuesday now I'm completely immobile.Im scared to death.I went to the emergency room yesterday and they wouldn't give me an xray they told me it's only for bones. They gave me a prescription for Motrin and sent me away. I cant stand up.I use my mom's cane to stand and the pain is intolerable its like I'm going to break in half. I couldn't get up to go to the bathroom and i urinated on myself. This is the second time this has happened.I don't know what to do .I'm in college I've missed assignments on blackboard because of this and i have class tomorrow there is no way i can go.

The pain is just getting worse by the day. It's not getting better..

It takes me ten minutes to get in or out b of the car because when i lift my legs the pain is intensified. My ten year old son has been lifting my legs for me and helping me walk.I was completely healthy before this happened.I'm embarrassed and the pain isn't going away.Yesterday i sat on my couch and cried for hours.

that is bullshit, and they could have done a lot more for you...file a complaint and let them know you are doing that

Go back. Tell them you peed on yourself just trying to get up the pain was so bad. Make them look at you again. It could be something internal causing like some kind of organ malfunction or slipped disc or fractured vertebra.

They are always going to assume you are a just a drug addict. They do that when they see a young person that looks healthy come in. You have to tell them I don't want drugs-I want you to do an MRI or X ray etc and make sure nothing is horribly wrong with me. If you can try soaking in a hot tub or big bathtub in hot water. If its a muscle issue that might relax them some.

You dont need an ER; you need another doctor. Probably an orthopedic doctor? Or go see your PCP who can help you figure out what type of specialist to see if the PCP doesnt know how to help you.

We can only go forward. My advice is what she should do now. And to he honest I'd have gone to an orthopedic or PCP to start with.

She very well might need an ER. My gall bladder had ruptured and it felt like lower back pain.

Unfortunately the ER is typically worthless now days. It's frightening to see doctors prioritize non emergencies over broken bones, the very possible loss of fingers or toes due to injury and someone who has been rendered immobilized over crap like colds of all things, which I've seen happen.

That's my suggestion. In my experience doctors outside of ERs are more able to help you. OP can do what she thinks is best, but so far the ER hasn't helped her.

My hubs went to the Urgent Care center a few weeks back because of sciatica pain. When the doctor heard that he'd been taking a lot of tylenol, she became alarmed and sent his ass to the ER for blood tests. The ER did the blood test to check his liver (it was fine) and took an xray. They determined the sciatica was due to muscle spasm and gave him a script for muscle relaxant. THAT is what your ER should have done for you. File a complaint with the hospital patient advocate and administrator. Go back and demand to be treated for your pain. Severe back pain could be caused by any number of things: muscle spasm, slipped disc, tumor, etc. The 'doctor' who refused to treat you should be fired.
