J. R. Ward.
She is one my favorite authors. Her series include Black Dagger Brotherhood, Black Dagger Legacy, Fallen Angels, The Bourbon Kings and her new series Firefighters. I have read them all but Firefighters because the new book just came out Oct 2.
She had a different take on vampires, which is refreshing to be honest. The plots are strong and there is the right amount of S*x. She also doesn't stick to just female/male stories. There is a bisexual character and then two gay couples. If you are on goodreads, here is the link to her goodreads author profile.

I read her first Black Dagger Brotherhood book years ago. I didn't like it. Romance doesn't appeal to me much, but I have read others books in that genre. In fact, after my current read, I will start another romance. This book is "Dracula, My Love: the Secret Journals of Mina Harker." I find romance to be light-reading (maybe I'm not reading the really good ones), and I think I'll want that after my current read. Besides, it features Dracula, a traditional Halloween monster.
Romance is the best-selling genre of books, so I won't give up on it.

I like romance books. I am reading “how to date you your dragon” right now. Maybe I will look at her work after it.
