WASHINGTON -- An uproar swept through the capital on Tuesday after the president complained that he’s the victim of a political “lynching."

Black lawmakers, in particular, expressed outrage as Donald Trump equated the impeachment inquiry to the hangings of slaves and former slaves by mobs in the Deep South as a method of punishment and intimidation.

“Stop trying to use this racist language to try to incite violence and distract the American people from the real truth—you abused the power of the highest office for your personal gain. You are a criminal,” tweeted Rep. Marc Veasey, a Fort Worth Democrat and member of the Congressional Black Caucus. https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politic ... lawmakers/

Lee was not holding her breath for an apology.

"I don't expect this president to do anything that's right when you look at how he treats people in this country who, really, he does not recognize as being full American," she added. https://www.newsweek.com/black-democrat ... ng-1466996

Yeah. Like calling Trump Hitler and claiming he's running "concentration camps?"

Suck it up Liberals. Your false rhetoric can be thrown right back at ya.

Several Republican lawmakers, however, defended the president. When asked by a reporter whether Trump's tweet was appropriate, Rep. Jim Jordan replied, "the president is frustrated." Sen. Lindsey Graham also echoed the president's remarks, calling the impeachment inquiry "a lynching in every sense."

I think the lynching comment is infuriating to a lot of people. But once again, outrageous statements or language is used and it absorbs the news cycle. The real news is the Act Ukraine Ambassador Taylor testifying to Congress. Taylor was formerly the Ambassador to Ukraine and a senior state department member. His text messages made public last week show his alarm over the WH actions.
Taylor, a retired former ambassador to Ukraine and a foreign policy elder statesman, had exchanged text messages with two other diplomats in which he called it “crazy to withhold security assistance for help with a political campaign” and a “nightmare scenario.”

An official working on the impeachment inquiry said Tuesday that Taylor is testifying under subpoena after the State Department attempted to block his appearance. “As is required of him, Ambassador Taylor is now complying with the subpoena and answering questions from both Democratic and Republican Members and staff."

Actual lynchings in the USA were grisly murders, often celebrated in public, and racially motivated. These elected officials are showing enormous lack of respect for the victims of these crimes. This will be remembered at the polls.

President Donald Trump’s top envoy to Ukraine told House impeachment investigators on Tuesday of intense efforts by administration officials to secure politically-motivated investigations of Trump’s rivals in exchange for a White House meeting with Ukraine’s president and critical military aid, according to sources in the room for the testimony.

Democrats are always upset when republicans remind them of how much lynching they have in their history.
