Do you feel that keeping families together in facilities which have been cited for inhumane treatment is a win?
Nobody is putting them in those facilities but themselves.

It is legal to seek asylum both affirmatively and defensively.

Can you give me statistics on how many of them are actually claiming legal asylum?

When individuals and family units are apprehended at the border, they undergo an almost immediate assessment of qualifications of asylum. Those who are deemed to have a credible threat are allowed to remain in country and are currently detained. Those who have no credible threat are deported. Family units are generally deemed to have credible threat during the initial interview.

How don't you know this?!

requesting asylum at a legal port of entry is legal, not sneaking across unauthorized then claiming asylum once you're caught. they're not doing it the legal way. they can also request asylum from their home country. since 80% of women and girls are raped crossing the border, you'd think they would go that route. instead, they give their daughters the morning after pill, knowing full well their daughter will be raped. one girl had the semen of 10 men inside of her body.

the best course of action to prevent all of this trauma is to dissuade illegal border crossings. these changes do that.

While this will be seen by many anti-Trumpers as a means to further what they feel is his and his administration's racism and xenophobia, I DO actually agree with this IF it's for the purpose of making sure the families stay together.
