I consider myself a single mom every time my husband is deployed for a long time, which has turned out to be about one third of our kids' life.

I think if you aren’t married or living with someone you are a single mom. Child support and visitation doesn’t change the status.
Honey, I'm the original one-eyed chicklet in the kingdom of the blind, 'cause at least I admit the world makes me nuts.

A mother/father not living with a partner is a single parent.

This. Raising kids with no husband or partner.

You can be not married and still get support.
