We just got back from his doctor and they prescribed antibiotics. The bite turned red and started spreading 😔

SO got it off him and the nurse told us to look for specific signs of infection. My girlfriend told me to take him to the ER to

get antibiotics. Should I take him to the ER? The tic was found around 7 am this morning and it doesn't look infected however I'm scared it was deep enough in his skin to release something into his blood. Lyme disease is no joke. As you can see it was deep into his skin

I spoke to the nurse over the phone so he wasn't seen nor did she see the picture.

You're right, Lyme is no joke.

Generally, tick bites will develop into a rash or ring if one is infected with Lyme or other tick borne illnesses but not always. I would take you son to your primary care physician in the morning and antibiotics will probably be recommended. I don't think an ER visit is necessary.

Sometimes the Board of Health will run a test on the tick itself to see if it had the Lyme contagion. If you still have it you may want to ask if that is available.

As long as it was fully removed I definitely wouldn’t go to the ER. Maybe urgent care the next day to have them properly look at it.

ER, no. Probably not necessary.

I would clean all bedding and see if the source of the tick came from a pet, particularly a dog.

Did the tick have a white spot on its back, or was it fully one color?

My SO got rid of it before I got a chance to inspect it.

Do you live in Texas or a surrounding state?

We live in Pennsylvania. Google says we have tons of ticks in the North East.
