I would let her drive to the school with me in the car and I'd drive the car back home. It would be good practice.

i don't care about the phrase "helicopter mom". I think you are doing the right thing to assure safety. That's all that matters.

No, I don't think it does. Sometimes it's hard for even the most seasoned drivers to drive in a down pour.

I'd let her. They need to learn how. Same with snow.

I would go with her for the first time if it is really raining hard.

This does not make you a helicopter mom; it makes you a concerned mom.

That's the ideal situation. That's what I'd do!

um, let HER drive the car to school in the rain with YOU in it, then you bring said car home....she won't get experience with you driving her all the time

I did the same with my kids. No way in heck way too new with zero actual experience.
