Very rarely, I will call during business hours. But typically and definitely after the office closes, for my family, there are two options:
1) you are sick enough to go into the office, urgent or ER care and pay for their opinion.
2) you are not sick enough and it waits until normal business hours to usually be seen.

I can't remember the last time I had a question about something with one of my kids. At their ages now I'm not sure what I would have a question about.
When I was a new mom and they were babies I would call the nurse line if I had a question about something.

Anything I have a question about? No. I'm not calling them over any and every little thing. I'm sorry but I have more than 2 brain cells to determine if I should take my kid in or let them ride out the case of a runny nose. Something concerning that's more along the lines of a follow up after they've been seen, sure.

Not at all. My kids pediatrician also has an app where you can send messages/ask questions and they get back to you that day or the next day. It's not for urgent things obviously but it's nice to have.
Not everyone has experience with ticks. Removing ticks can be hard if you've never done it. Considering all the illnesses that can result from tick bites there's nothing laughable about asking a pediatrician.

I agree. I have fortunately never had to remove a tick and I was saying in the other post I would have too much anxiety to try it myself without being shown how by a doctor first.
I took DD to the pediatrician when she was little but when she was like 3 I switched her to our family doctor. We'd been going to him for years and she was the first little one he saw. But she was never sick beyond a sinus infection or an ear infection. When she hurt her knee I did take to am orthopedic specialist but it turned out that she had a plica under her knee cap that eventually wasn't an issue.
We've found a few ticks here from firewood we got from my moms. They're so much fun to pull off, especially in the dogs ears. Glad the dogs are chill and just let me do my thing. Mosquitos are already bad but so far no ticks.

my kids pediatrician has this text app that she uses. I can message anytime during business hours and she usually gets back to me within an hour or so. After hours there is a number you can call like a nurse line.
