Scary costumes aren't banned here, my kids always dress up as something scary. A nine year old can handle seeing a skeleton. Scary is fine, racism is where I draw a line.Anonymous 1 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 11:11 pmFor a 9 year old? I have a 10 year old son and no scary costumes are allowed at his school.Pjmm wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 10:36 pmUnless someone told me I'd think she was just a creepy ass skeleton. I've never heard of this puppet. Find her a cool creepy skeleton and call it done.Olioxenfree wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 10:03 pm
You don't see a problem with a child dressing up as a stereotype of an Islamic suicide bomber for Halloween?
OMG! Sooooo inappropriate! My DD wants to be this for Halloween!

I disagree. Just because it's fictional doesn't mean it doesn't reinforce a stereotype.MysticDreamer wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 10:22 pmFictional characters of any kind are fair game for this sort of thing.Olioxenfree wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 10:03 pmYou don't see a problem with a child dressing up as a stereotype of an Islamic suicide bomber for Halloween?
Oh well. When it comes to things like this, I don't really care. Dress up as you damn well please, if that is what you are going to do.Olioxenfree wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 9:32 amI disagree. Maybe if your kid was the one getting bullied and called a terrorist on a regular basis, you would care.MysticDreamer wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 12:48 pmOh well. I feel like her. I personally don't want my young kid dressing up as this character. However what anyone else wants to do is their business. That being said until this minute I never heard of this guy. Granted I live under a rock but other people might just see a skeleton. if it were me I'd just find her a scary skeleton outfit similar to but not this particular character.Olioxenfree wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 12:55 pmMaybe if your kid was the one getting bullied and called a terrorist on a regular basis, you would care.MysticDreamer wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 12:48 pmOh well. Seems like the perfect costume for a 9 year old to me.
Why do you think people would have a problem with it?

I've seen his act multiple times and never have seen anything offensive. Me thinks you are too sensitive.pinkbutterfly66 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 1:58 amHe's actually quite offensive.Fullxbusymom wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 1:01 amNothing I have ever seen about him, read about him is racist. He has an amazing talent and his puppets are funny as hell. I see zero issues with this and do not understand why you feel it is offensive or garbage, but each to their own.pinkbutterfly66 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 11:57 pm Jeff Dunham is a racist piece of shit. Great parenting for letting your daughter watch that garbage.
Probably. But since this is hypothetical scenario you are presenting here, it is a non-issue. Besides my child is all grown up and on her own, and is fully capable of fighting her own battles.Olioxenfree wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 12:55 pmMaybe if your kid was the one getting bullied and called a terrorist on a regular basis, you would care.MysticDreamer wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 12:48 pmOh well. It doesn’t bother me but I don’t like his comedy. That said, that would not go over very well here in Dearborn, lol. I get it’s just a joke though.
